I am just beginning to collect data
for my research project. My research question
is: How will using graphic organizers affect
reading comprehension among middle school students with a learning
disability? So far, I have given two
pre-assessments, and I am now ready to begin my lessons. My goal is to have all of my data collected
by the end of February, and start analyzing and writing my paper by the first of March. I have a feeling that April 15th
is going to get here very quickly!
So far, I only have five research subjects. I was hoping to have closer to ten, but I
only received five consent forms. This
has been my biggest challenge so far. It
took two weeks of reminding students to bring back their forms., and I did not
even receive half. Though if this is
the biggest roadblock I face throughout this project, I would consider myself
lucky.
I am excited to start conducting my
research. Now that the pre-tests are out
of the way, it is time to start implementing graphic organizers into my
lessons. I am looking forward to seeing
how my students interact with this learning, and if/how this strategy might
help them increase their reading comprehension.
I'll keep you posted!
